This Privacy Policy explains how San Francisco Social Club / Better IRL Co. / Better IRL, Inc. (“SF Social Club,” “SFSC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit sfsocialclub.com, apply for membership, purchase a Day Pass, attend as a member or guest, inquire about events, or otherwise interact with us.
By using our website or services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. Related rules are in our Terms & Policies.
1. Who We Are
SF Social Club operates a private membership club and related events at 30 Sheridan Street, San Francisco, California. This policy covers personal information processed in connection with our website, membership applications, Day Pass purchases, venue check-in, billing, and communications.
Questions about this policy or your information can be sent to support@sanfranciscosocial.club.
2. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with us.
Information you provide. This may include:
Name, email address, phone number, and other contact details.
Membership application information, including social profiles (such as LinkedIn, Instagram, or X/Twitter), referral details, membership tier interest, and written responses about why you want to join.
Day Pass booking details, including the event the pass is for and your agreement to the Day Pass terms.
Billing address, phone number, and payment information when you check out (processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers on our website).
Event, corporate, or other inquiries you send by email or form.
Communications with us, including billing questions, cancellation requests, and support messages.
Information collected at the venue. For Day Pass check-in, we may collect a government-issued photo ID and a photograph of that ID, and we may retain a payment card on file for incidental damage, as described in our Day Pass terms. We may also keep access, check-in, and incident records as needed for operations and safety.
Information collected automatically. When you use our website, our hosting and security systems may collect technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. Our membership application form may store a session identifier in your browser so you can resume an unfinished application.
Payment and checkout data. If you purchase a Day Pass or pay membership dues through our payment processor, Stripe may collect your name, email, phone number, billing address, payment method details, and transaction records on our behalf.
3. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
Review membership applications and contact you about membership.
Process Day Pass purchases, confirm bookings, and administer venue access.
Verify identity, prevent fraud, and protect the safety of members, guests, staff, and the venue.
Charge authorized amounts, including membership dues, Day Pass fees, and documented incidental damage charges.
Send transactional messages, such as booking confirmations, billing notices, and responses to your requests.
Send membership, event, or community communications you have requested or that relate to your relationship with the club, including marketing support for certain membership benefits where applicable.
Operate, maintain, and improve our website, records, and club operations.
Comply with law, enforce our terms, resolve disputes, and protect our legal rights.
4. Legal Bases
We process personal information as needed to provide requested services, perform a contract (including membership and Day Pass terms), comply with legal obligations, and pursue our legitimate interests in operating a private club, processing payments, preventing fraud, and maintaining a safe venue. Where consent is required, such as certain outreach or ID photography at Day Pass check-in, we rely on that consent.
6. Payments
Online payments are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment, customer identifiers, and related transaction details needed to fulfill your purchase and keep club records. Stripe’s handling of payment data is described in Stripe’s privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
We do not store full payment card numbers on this website. A payment card provided at Day Pass check-in may be retained on file through the end of the access window and for up to seven (7) days afterward solely to cover documented incidental damage, then deleted or discarded according to our payment-processor practices unless a claim is pending.
7. Identity Verification and ID Photographs
Day Pass users must present a valid, government-issued photo ID at check-in. Staff may photograph the ID to confirm that the person checking in is the named purchaser.
ID photographs are retained for thirty (30) days for identity verification, fraud prevention, and security, and are not used for marketing. We do not share them with third parties except where required by law or to protect SFSC’s safety and legal interests. You may request deletion after the retention period, or sooner, by contacting us, subject to any legal or security obligation to retain the photograph longer.
8. Cookies and Browser Storage
Our website is largely static and does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. Limited storage may still be used:
Our hosting provider and security tools may set strictly necessary cookies or logs to operate and protect the site.
The membership application form may save a session identifier in local storage so an unfinished application can be restored.
Stripe Checkout and other third-party pages we link to may set their own cookies according to their policies.
You can control cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Blocking some storage may prevent parts of the site, such as checkout or application progress saving, from working.
9. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law.
Membership applications and related records are kept while we review them and, if you join, for the life of the membership relationship and a reasonable period afterward for billing, legal, and operational records.
Day Pass purchase records, terms acceptances, and payment records are kept as needed for fulfillment, accounting, chargebacks, and legal compliance.
ID photographs are kept for thirty (30) days, as described above.
Cards retained at check-in for incidental damage are kept through the access window and up to seven (7) days afterward, unless a damage claim is pending.
10. Security
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect personal information, including limiting staff access and using reputable service providers for payments and hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your Choices and Rights
You may decline to provide information, but some services (including applications, membership, and Day Pass purchases) cannot be provided without it.
You may opt out of non-transactional marketing emails by contacting us at support@sanfranciscosocial.club. We will still send messages needed to administer membership, purchases, billing, or safety.
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, correction of inaccurate information, deletion of information, or a copy of information you provided to us.
California residents may also have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email support@sanfranciscosocial.club. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and some information may be retained where we have a legal or operational need to keep it (for example, completed payments or pending damage claims).
12. Children’s Privacy
Our website and club services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
13. Third-Party Sites and Services
Our site may link to third-party sites or services, including Google Forms for membership applications and Stripe for checkout. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. The version in effect when you use the website or purchase a service applies to that use, except where a later version is required by law.
